He began as a test driver for Alfa Romeo and soon became an official driver and dealer. He then took charge of the entire racing program, establishing Scuderia Ferrari in Modena, where he and select technicians and mechanics modified and tuned every Alfa Romeo race car: their winning record shines brightly on the Alfa Romeo name even today. 1929 Alfa Corse, the in-house racing team for Alfa Romeo, prepared four 8C 2900B cars for the 1938 Mille Miglia. With Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera roadster bodies and magnificent Vittorio Jano 2900 engines, they continued a history of Alfa Romeo domination with the top two positions at Mille Miglia that year and achieved four consecutive victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The reverence people hold for Alfa Romeo has only grown with each milestone along the way. In 1954, Alfa Romeo upped the ante with the introduction of Giulietta, in several different street models, along with a competition-only two-seater, the Giulietta Sprint Zagato. Its all-aluminum and plexiglass construction was an excellent example of how Alfa Romeo perfected the art of speed through the art of balance — achieving optimal power-toweight ratios with lightweight strength innovations. June 2015 revealed the new Giulia Quadrifoglio, an impressive reincarnation of the Giulia, featuring a whole new level of power-to-weight engineering. It does its badge proud. The Alfa Romeo Racing C38 marks the return of Alfa Romeo to Formula 1 racing. With a history that’s steeped in pace-setting innovation, Alfa Romeo has long leveraged racetrack technology with street-smart design to make its mark in F1 racing and commuter lanes alike. 1938 1954 2015 2018 1910 1932 1953 1967 2016 Speed permeated the walls of the ALFA factory: the very first car produced there, the 24 HP, reached a top speed of 100 km/h (62 mph). The Corsa version of the 24 HP performed brilliantly and stood out at the 1911 Targa Florio. In the 1930s, the Vittorio Janodesigned Gran Premio Tipo P3 was a force in Grand Prix racing, with an unheard-of top speed of 232 km/h (144 mph). It took 46 checkered flags in a three-year period. Derived from the Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 prototype, the 6C 3000 CM Spider’s engine capacity was increased to 3,495 cc and produced a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). It was the winner of the 1st Gran Premio Supercortemaggiore, held in Merano in 1953, and came in second at the Mille Miglia that same year. The 6C also raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and was later used to test innovative components, including disc brakes. Created during what is known as “the Alfa Romeo Glory Years,” the Tipo 33 Stradale is a car collector’s dream — often called the most beautiful car of all time. Its mid-engine, rear-wheel design inspires to this day, including the current Alfa Romeo 4C Spider. With only 18 produced, the car is extremely rare. The value of each is almost impossible to determine, as the 33 Stradale is hardly ever traded. The 2016 SUV offering from Alfa Romeo was created for those who demand the highest level of performance and utility in equal measure. Dreamers from Milan, engineers from Modena and artisans from Cassino put their talents to the test, producing a highly unique sport utility vehicle that only Italy could create: Stelvio, the SUV for the S-curves. HISTORY / 3 POWERFUL CHARMS Born over one hundred years ago, the Alfa Romeo marque represents a passion for motoring unlike any other. With racetrack wins over the years at Mille Miglia, Targa Florio, 24 Hours of Le Mans and more, the Brand’s impressive motorsport history lends an alluring aura to any vehicle it produces. Furthermore, the very top Alfa Romeo performers are recognized with the distinctive Quadrifoglio (four-leaf clover) emblem. It’s a good-luck tradition started in 1923 by the legendary Alfa Romeo factory driver, Ugo Sivocci, who wanted to break a string of secondplace finishes. He created a good-luck symbol by hand-painting a clover over a white square on his Targo Florio racecar. It worked like a charm — Sivocci finally won a race. Weeks later, Sivocci drove a vehicle that was missing his magic cloverleaf. Tragically, he crashed and lost his life. From that point on, every Alfa Romeo performance car would bear the four-leaf clover on a white triangle instead of a square — with the missing corner symbolizing the loss of Sivocci. Now, the Giulia Quadrifoglio, with its history of record-breaking track results, wears it well. Alfa Romeo has always taken a unique and innovative approach to designing its automobiles — it is the point of convergence between a love for the most cutting-edge technology and a strong instinct to inspire emotions. The systems automatically reset to NATURAL at the vehicle start while retaining the ability to change modes at any time.  ACE (Quadrifoglio only) activates the over-boost R function, opens up the dual-mode exhaust system and turns off Electronic Stability Control (ESC),1* increasing torque to maximize performance. DYNAMIC delivers sharper throttle response, enhanced steering feedback and performance shift-mapping for sporty on-road driving; and now on the Quadrifoglio, opens the dual-mode exhaust. PERFORMANCE / 8 THE IDEAL AWD The available Q4 All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system combines the advantages of AWD with the performance and driving pleasure of Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD). During normal conditions, the Q4 AWD system sends 100% of the engine torque to the rear axle. When necessary, the system can automatically transfer up to 60% of the torque to the front axle thanks to the Active Transfer Case (ATC) — it continuously monitors road conditions to deliver ideal torque distribution, maximizing grip and performance. The standard TCS limits the wheelspin of a single drive wheel by applying brake torque to the wheel while an equivalent amount of torque is transferred via the differential to the other wheel, providing the vehicle the torque required to drive away. ALFA STEERING TORQUE (AST) The AST functionality integrates ESC1 with the electric steering wheel in order to increase the safety level of the vehicle. Thanks to AST, in dangerous situations like braking on a surface with varying grip, ESC1 will order the activation of additional torque on the steering wheel.
