SRS Replacement Parts
TORRANCE, Calif., June 12, 2012 – At various times during production of the abovementioned vehicles, American Honda used both Continental and TRW-supplied SRS parts.
Although the wiring harnesses and connectors are exactly the same, each supplier has a
different way of sending signals between the impact sensors and the SRS unit. This
information doesn't apply to Japan-built models or Civic Coupes. All Civic Coupes come with
Continental-supplied parts.
After a deployment, the SRS system must be restored with replacement parts from the same
supplier that was originally used in production. If those parts are mixed and matched on the
same vehicle, the SRS light will remain on.
SRS Supplier Identification
To avoid this problem, determine which supplier's SRS system was originally installed on the
vehicle you're working on. Use the chart below:

If you have already replaced the SRS unit or sensor(s) and the SRS dash light is still on,
chances are one or more incorrect parts were used. Consider the following to determine
which part was used:
Replaced Parts Available: Compare the barcode labels on the replaced parts to the
SRS Replacement Parts chart in this article.
Parts Invoice from the Dealer: Compare the part numbers that were ordered to the
SRS Replacement Parts chart.
If No Replacement Parts or Shop Paperwork Are Available: Inspect the SRS unit
and impact sensors, and compare them to the SRS Parts Identification photos and
the SRS Replacement Parts chart in this article.
Another timesaver is to check the part numbers on any impact sensors that weren't
replaced to determine the original SRS system supplier.

Parts Information Update from Honda
If any parts are mismatched, replace them with the right ones based on the SRS
Replacement Parts chart. The vehicle will then need to go to a Honda dealer to have the
codes cleared and the SRS system initialized.
In the unlikely event that all part numbers match up, and the SRS light is still on, Diagnostic
Trouble Codes (DTC) troubleshooting will be necessary. A bad sensor, wiring, or SRS unit
may be at fault. An authorized Honda dealer can determine this.
This Parts Information Update is in reference to a ServiceNews Article dated June 2012 entitled,
“Wrong SRS Replacement Parts Can Cause SRS DTCs 41-xx thru 46-xx”
