INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS BASE CARRIER SEP. 2006 CR-V Parts List Front base carrier (with “FRONT” label) Rear base carrier Special nuts (8) Torx wrench Tools and Supplies Required • Flat-tip screwdriver • Shop towel Before You Begin Customer Information • Install the accessory with care not to damage the vehicle body and the parts of the vehicle. • In case of reinstallation of the parts of the vehicle, note how they are installed before removing them. • Release or remove the retaining tabs, clips and other fasteners from the parts with care do not damage them. Remove the four covers from the roof moldings of the vehicle (four retaining tabs on one roof molding). • Store the covers in the glove box. They will be reused when you remove the base carrier. Position the front base carrier and rear base carrier on the vehicle as shown and secure them by tightening the eight special bolts using a torx wrench. Make sure the rubber alignment stud is positioned through the hole in the base carrier. Torque the special bolts to 20 N·m (2.0 kgf·m, 14 lbs·ft). • Front bar is indicated with a seal. • Please note right side and left side on each bar. Install the four covers on the base carrier. After installing the cover, check that the rubber of the base carrier is not protruding to the surface. If the rubber of the base carrier is protruding to the surface, push the rubber in using a plastic spatula. After installing the base carrier, apply force on the front and rear sides and on the right and left sides of the base carrier to check for secure installation. • Be sure that the base carrier is installed securely. Using a flat-tip screwdriver, push in on the locking tab of the base carrier cover to release it. Remove the base carrier cover from the base carrier. Remove the base carrier cover from the other carrier cover at the same side of the vehicle. COVER BASE CARRIER FLAT-TIP SCREWDRIVER FRONT BASE CARRIER REAR BASE CARRIER • When either the other attachment (optional part) is installed on the base carrier, refer to the installation instructions for the attachment kit you are to install. 8. Slide the bolts into the front base carrier. 10. Install in the same way also on the rear side. BOLT BASE CARRIER FRONT BASE CARRIER REAR BASE CARRIER • When installed the ski/snowboard attachment kit. 11. Measure the dimensions of the screw on the hinge side of the ski/snowboard attachment, and install by sliding the head of the screw into the base carrier as shown. 12. Refer to the installation instruction for the ski/ snowboard attachment kit you are to install. 6718041E SKI/SNOWBOARD ATTACHMENT BASE CARRIER SCREW HEAD ABOUT 3.5 mm (ABOUT 0.14 in.) SKI/SNOWBOARD ATTACHMENT 13. Cut the rubber molding of each base carrier and install the pieces of the rubber molding you just cut between the attachment kits according to the installation instructions. This will reduce wind noise during driving.
