The centrally mounted fuel tank liberates more space in the boot, and accommodates Honda’s innovative Magic Seats system. The boot space is also capacious, with 470 litre capacity with the rear seats in use, and 1,026 litres to the window line with the rear seats folded away. We’ve designed the spacious interior of the HR-V to be a really pleasurable place to spend time. You may just be doing the weekly shop, but that shouldn’t mean you can’t do it with space and style. The generous interior is coupled with quality details like chrome door handles and leather steering wheel and gear knob*, giving the HR-V a premium feel. Space is often said to be the ultimate luxury and the new HR-V lets the driver and passengers travel in a quiet, comfortable, airy environment. It’s all down to our new engines and engineering which mean you don’t have to compromise. Choose from the responsive and efficient 130PS 1.5 i-VTEC petrol, or the 120PS 1.6 i-DTEC. Both engines are available in 6-speed manual options for a refined, smooth driving experience. Plus the new 1.5 litre i-VTEC is available with a CVT automatic transmission, which ensures optimum engine output for your speed. The result is a smooth and comfortable drive. All engines have idle stop, which turns off the engine when you come to a standstill. It then re-starts automatically when you select a gear, helping to deliver CO2 emissions as low as 104g/km. By pressing the ECON button fuel economy is helped further still. Once activated, the transmission and engine are optimised to conserve fuel. For example, a gentler throttle controls power and torque and the air conditioning is set to consume less energy. You might not notice the difference straight away, but you will when you visit the pumps a bit less often. Idle Stop Button 17 SAFETY EXTRA SMART EXTRA SAFE TRAFFIC SIGN RECOGNITION SYSTEM* Everyone wants to protect their family. We think the best way to avoid collisions is to be one step ahead, which is why we offer our Driver Assistance Safety Pack technologies. They aid the driver by acting as extra sensors, warning and reacting where necessary. The City-Brake Active System, for example, which is standard on all grades, monitors slow moving traffic in front of the car and warns of a forward collision. This allows the driver time to take action, even applying emergency braking to reduce speed as much as possible if no action is taken by the driver. CITY-BRAKE ACTIVE SYSTEM Traffic Sign Recognition System identifies traffic signs up to 100m away and relays this information to the driver via the MID as you pass them. Two signs can be displayed at any one time. LANE DEPARTURE WARNING* When road lines are detected and the car deviates from your current lane without indicating, Lane Departure Warning alerts you to the fact with audible and visual warnings. 1: While driving around town between 5-20 mph, to give you the best chance of avoiding a collision, this system can monitor the distance between you and the car in front. Our Lane Departure Warning* alarm alerts you if your HR-V deviates from a lane without indication and the clever Forward Collision Warning* monitors the area in front of the car to help you avoid collisions and keeps everyone that bit safer. 2: If you continue getting closer to a detected vehicle, the HR-V gives you audible and visual warning via the MID display. INTELLIGENT SPEED LIMITER* FORWARD COLLISION WARNING* Automatically sets the speed limit that the traffic sign recognition system detects. Should the front camera pick up a car in front, the system warns of a front-on collision, allowing you time to take action. With the Intelligent Speed Limiter activated the car will drive normally but cannot exceed the prevailing speed limit unless the system is over-ridden by the driver. BRIGHT AND MODERN HIGHBEAM SUPPORT SYSTEM* The Highbeam Support System assesses the driving conditions around you and switches automatically between high and low beam. *Available on EX and SE grades only. In good driving conditions it can even avoid a collision altogether. 19 SAFETY ENGINEERED FOR YOUR SAFETY The safety of your passengers, other road users and pedestrians has always been one of our fundamental design requirements. That’s why we have packed a great deal of advanced engineering into the new HR-V, most of which comes as standard across the range. DRIVER AND PASSENGER SRS AIRBAGS For maximum protection, the front airbags use a two-stage inflator allowing the timing and force of deployment to vary according to severity of impact. Side curtain airbags protect the driver and passengers in the front and back in the case of a side-on collision, working in conjunction with the 3-point seat belt. VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST Monitors all four wheels independently and calculates the precise amount of power or braking force needed to regain control if traction is lost. In slippery conditions, it manages engine torque and braking to each wheel, reducing speed to a point that allows safe and consistent travel. WHIPLASH LESSENING FRONT HEAD RESTRAINTS In the event of a collision, the headrests and seatbelts help keep passengers safe and secure. HILL START ASSIST Hill Start Assist prevents roll back when starting on an incline. Using a slope sensor the brake pressure is controlled, keeping the car stationary for 1½ seconds after you release the brake pedal. BRAKE ASSIST Brake Assist helps the vehicle come to a stop sooner during emergency braking.
