1998 Honda Passport LX DOOR LOCKS - POWER' '1998 ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT Isuzu - Power Door Locks DESCRIPTION & OPERATION On Hombre, when door lock switch is activated, doors will lock or unlock in unison. Actuators receive voltage from door lock relay which applies voltage to one of the terminals, and ground to the other. To reverse actuators, the polarity to terminals is reversed. Circuit breaker protects against damage and resets after voltage is removed. On Amigo, Rodeo and Trooper, system components consist of a door lock control unit (located in driver's door lock/power window switch), door lock actuators, door lock switch and tailgate switch (Trooper). Door lock control unit has constant battery voltage. Lock mechanism of all doors (including tailgate) can be activated by using ignition key in driver's front door, or by using door lock knob. When lock mechanism is activated, current flows from control unit to actuators for about one second. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy. DOOR LOCK SWITCH Removal & Installation Pry upward on front edge of switch panel, Pull upward to disengage clips. Disconnect electrical connectors. Replace switch on switch panel. To install, reverse removal procedure. DOOR KEY SWITCH Removal & Installation (Amigo, Rodeo & Trooper) Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove door panel and waterproof shield. See DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR . Remove lock rods from outside door handle. Disconnect door key switch connectors and remove handle from door. Remove door lock switch from lock cylinder. To install, reverse removal procedure. DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR Removal & Installation (Amigo, Rodeo & Trooper Front & Rear Doors) Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove door trim panel and waterproof shield. Ensure door glass is closed completely. Remove rear guide rail for window. Disconnect door lock actuator connector and locking links. Remove door lock actuator screws and remove door lock actuator from bottom of door. To install, reverse removal procedure. Removal & Installation (Amigo & Rodeo Rear Hatch) Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove tailgate trim cover and waterproof shield. Remove screws attaching hatch lock to top of tailgate. Disconnect lock link from hatch lock. Disconnect lock links from key cylinder and remove spring clip attaching lock cylinder assembly to door. Disconnect actuator wiring connector. Remove bolts attaching actuator to inside of door. To install, reverse removal procedure. NOTE: On Hombre, door lock actuator is located on lock assembly. Removal & Installation (Hombre) 1998 Honda Passport LX DOOR LOCKS - POWER' '1998 ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT Isuzu - Power Door Locks 1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove screw cover at bottom door pull handle. Remove screws attaching door pull handle and single plastic screw behind inside door handle. Use Trim Pad Remover (J38778) to disengage clips attaching door panel clips to door panel. Pull door panel upward to disengage top of panel from door. 2. Remove water deflector from door. Remove 4 lock rods from door lock assembly. See Fig. 1 . Disconnect door lock actuator electrical connector from door lock assembly. Remove screws retaining door lock assembly to door. 3. Remove screws attaching door lock actuator to door lock assembly if applicable. To install, reverse removal procedure. Removal & Installation (Trooper Rear Doors) Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove rear door trim panel. Note routing of wiring harnesses and remove waterproof shield. Remove locking links and electrical connector from actuator. To remove door lock assembly, remove locking links and attaching screws. Removal & Installation (Amigo, Rodeo & Trooper) Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove door trim panel and waterproof shield. Ensure door glass is closed completely. Remove rear guide rail. Disconnect door lock switch connector and locking links. Remove door lock assembly fixing screws and remove door lock assembly.
