Our L-finesse (L = leading edge) creative language allows Lexus designers to express power and strength with great finesse – creating vehicles that are forward-looking and deeply artistic. Look closer at the LX and the intriguing design elements reveal themselves: the ‘spindle-shaped’ grille that reflects the latest in Lexus design and the distinctive LED headlights, with dynamic headlamp leveling, daytime running lights and front fog lamps. Attention to detail is apparent throughout this vehicle. For example, to achieve peace and comfort at high speeds, wind noise is reduced by the meticulous design of bodywork seals, door mirrors and window frame mouldings. Outside, the impression is of strength, solidity and resolve. Inside, it’s a remarkably quiet and comfortable place to be, thanks to extensive soundproofing and anti-vibration measures. The exquisitely finished interior sets the standards in SUV refinement and luxury. While behind the wheel, you’ll notice how the ergonomic cockpit surrounds you for a really relaxed and comfortable drive. Everything you touch in the LX communicates the vehicle’s quality – from the finely stitched, wood and leathertrimmed steering wheel and soft–touch leather door trimmings that contrast the finely varnished Shimamoku Brown inserts, to the stunning multi-media graphics on the Audio and Multi-Information Display screens. The semi-aniline leather seats are extremely comfortable and have extra lateral support that you’ll particularly appreciate when driving off-road. Inside, a 12.3-inch display with Remote Touch Interface heads a list of multimedia and connectivity upgrades that keep the LX on the cutting edge of user technology. With the 12.3-inch screen, navigation gains full-screen map capability, with menu shortcut buttons accessible through the Remote Touch or from the centre console. The second-row provides an entertainment system with DVD, HDMI and auxiliary functionalities, and the centre armrest features controls for the four-zone air conditioning and a remote control for the entertainment system. The LX is an ideal vehicle for getting away from it all while still staying informed, entertained and connected. The Panoramic View cameras that are integrated into the Multi Terrain Monitor are an invaluable aid when hitching and manoeuvring a trailer, viewing the surrounding terrain when off-roading, and helping view the area around the vehicle (sides, front and rear) when navigating tight spaces. On steep slopes or uneven terrain, crawl control automatically works the throttle and brakes to help keep the vehicle steadily moving forward, sensing when one wheel might spin and then compensating by applying more torque to another, while you concentrate on driving. The LX offers excellent all-around visibility, but drivers can appreciate the extra help from the standard Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). Additionally, the convenient Head-Up Display (HUD) system projects important information directly onto the windshield, so drivers never have to take their eyes off the road. Information displayed on the HUD includes everything from vehicle speed to navigation to real-time warnings and alerts. SAFETY WITHOUT COMPROMISE The LX’s Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert and Pre-Crash Safety systems work together to maximise driver safety at all times. Adaptive Cruise Control uses sensors to ensure a constant and safe following distance between you and the vehicle in front of you, while Lane Keep Assist automatically warns you via steering wheel vibration or sound buzzer should your vehicle unintentionally deviate from its lane. This is augmented by the Pre-Crash Safety system, which automatically activates the brakes should it detect probable or imminent collision with an upcoming road obstruction. With its V8 cylinder block die-cast in a lightweight yet strong aluminium alloy, it is also an engine that will last – providing great reliability and durability. A 6-speed automatic transmission offers enhanced performance and efficiency. Drive Mode Select allows the LX 450D driver to tailor powertrain and suspension responses by using a dial on the console. The system also controls responses of the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), which continually adjusts shock absorber damping rates while driving, helping to ensure optimal comfort, even when the road surface changes. SUPREME V8 POWER The LX 570 luxury SUV is powered by the largest engine ever fitted to a Lexus. Delivering 270 kW of power and 530 Nm of torque, it works seamlessly with a flexible 8-speed ‘paddle shift’ automatic transmission for both dynamic and smooth gear changes. The LX 570 will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds up to a top speed of 210 km/h (electronically limited). With its V8 cylinder block die-cast in lightweight yet strong aluminium alloy, it is also an engine that will last – giving great reliability and durability. During development, Lexus engineers tested the drivetrain for 1.3 million kilometres – the equivalent of 32 times around the globe. By making continuous, individual adjustments according to the terrain, this Lexus world-first technology ensures optimum off-road vehicle balance and control. For maximum traction, the torque-sensing differential distributes power according to the grip available at each wheel. MULTI-TERRAIN SELECT The LX is specified with the world’s most advanced off-road technologies, including multi-terrain ABS and Crawl Control. For peerless command of wilderness conditions, Multi-Terrain Select adjusts multiple vehicle systems to best negotiate the chosen terrain: Mud & Sand, Loose Rock, Mogul, Rock & Dirt, and Rock. At low speeds, Crawl Control intelligently applies throttle and braking applications – optimised by multi-terrain ABS. This lets the driver focus exclusively on steering the LX in the toughest of off-road conditions. MULTI-TERRAIN MONITOR Miniature cameras are strategically positioned in both of the door mirror housings, the front grille and the rear bumper. These relay up to four live images to the Multi-Terrain Monitor, providing a near 360° view around the vehicle. This helps the driver spot rocks, ruts, crevices or sheer drops that might otherwise be obscured from view. Indeed, its advanced electronic traction control technologies, sophisticated adaptive suspension and permanent allwheel drive also contribute to agile, yet remarkably comfortable, on-road handling and performance. ADAPTIVE VARIABLE SUSPENSION (AVS) A leading–edge technology contributing to both on- and off-road performance, Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) can adjust vehicle height as appropriate . On road, AVS reduces ride height at higher speeds to improve aerodynamic performance. And at rest, it smoothly lowers by about 150 mm to ease exit and entry. PRE-CRASH SAFETY (PCS) SYSTEM HILL ASSIST CONTROL (HAC) PCS uses sensors to warn the driver of any upcoming vehicles or obstructions. Additionally, if it detects that collision with these obstructions is likely or unavoidable, the system automatically activates the brakes to help avoid collision or minimise the severity of the impact. When starting off on a slope, Hill Assist Control (HAC) automatically maintains brake pressure to help prevent the LX from slipping forwards or backwards. HAC works both on-road and off-road and helps reduce driver fatigue. ACTIVE TRACTION CONTROL (ATRC) VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL (VSC) ATRC increases the LX ’s ability to grip the road, especially when starting off or accelerating on uneven or slippery surfaces. Corrective measures are applied the moment the risk of wheel-spin is detected, thereby maintaining traction. VSC and Lane Departure Assist helps prevent the loss of vehicle control, particularly when cornering quickly or at the onset of a skid. Stability is improved and vehicle speed reduced by the selective application of brakes and/or power reduction. Images shown for illustrative purposes C O M P R E H E N S I V E O C C U PA N T P R OT E C T I O N S A F E T Y F E AT U R E S THREE-POINT SEATBELTS ISOFIX SEAT ANCHORS The third* row centre seat, is specified with a 3-point seat belt, this is an innovative design solution with the belt retracting fully into the roof lining when not in use. LX drivers with small children will appreciate the added security of two ISOFIX seat mountings. These are used to quickly attach a child’s seat in a safe and secure fashion. ULTRA-STRONG CONSTRUCTION ENERGY ABSORPTION TEN AIRBAGS Immense strength and exceptional torsional rigidity are essential to supreme off-road performance. And the LX sets new standards here. Compared to its predecessor, much higher tensile steel is used and the frame area is significantly increased. This ultra-strong construction not only benefits off-road performance, but also makes the LX an extremely safe and robust vehicle. In developing the LX, Lexus engineers also sought to enhance the impact absorption rate, a normally contradictory characteristic of strength and rigidity. They achieved this without compromise by implementing an entirely new concept. The LX can absorb and disperse the energy of a 5.0 ton impact – a new standard for a vehicle of this type. LX airbags are sensor–controlled and inflate depending on the intensity and direction of impact. In addition to the driver and front passenger head, knee and side airbags, curtain shield airbags run the entire length of the side windows to protect occupants in all three seat rows. They inflate within milliseconds of a side impact, or in the unlikely event of the vehicle rolling over. *LX 570 Only Images shown for illustrative purposes E X T E R I O R F E AT U R E S F E AT U R E S COURTESY LIGHTING 20" MESH ALLOY WHEELS ADVANCED HEADLIGHTS Approach the LX and it recognises the key’s unique identification code. This triggers a carefully choreographed monogram lighting sequence in the front and rear doors, which helps guide the driver and passengers to the comfort of their seats. These stunning 20-spoke design, forged alloy wheels create a dynamic impact. Specified with lower profile 285/50 R20 tyres, this combination adds to the visual appeal of the LX. LED Adaptive High-Beam headlights provide great visibility for you as well as other drivers by defaulting to high-beam mode when the road ahead is clear. The system then switches to low beams when it senses the lights of oncoming vehicles. The headlights also feature high-pressure water-jet headlamp cleaners to wash away grit or grime. DISCREET CAMERAS EXTERIOR MIRROR RAIN-SENSING WIPER Four strategically positioned cameras (front grille, each door mirror housing and rear bumper) can be specified on the LX. The cameras assist the driver in manoeuvring both on and off-road. The multi-function, fold-away exterior mirrors incorporate a turn-signal indicator and blind spot monitor. The mirrors are electrically adjustable and can be heated for effective de-frosting. They also dim automatically when required. A sensor placed discreetly above the rear view mirror detects rainfall and its intensity. The wipers are activated automatically as soon as the in-built software calculates that there is sufficient water to clear from the windscreen. Images shown for illustrative purposes I N T E R I O R F E AT U R E S F E AT U R E S LED INTERIOR LIGHTING REAR SEAT ENTERTAINMENT 4-ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL LED technology provides discreet lighting for specific cabin areas, including the cockpit, and second and third row seats. Front door scuff plates, the start button and the interior door handles are also illuminated. Second–row passengers can enjoy a full home-theatre experience. Operated by remote control, each 8" screen can play a different film or video game with the audio provided via headphones or the speaker system. There are four independent temperature control zones: Driver, front passenger, left and right sides of the second and third seat rows. Twin air conditioning units, air vents and diffusers, and an air purifier ensure a consistently pleasant interior climate. CLIMATE CONCIERGE SEAT CONFIGURATION CENTRAL LOCKING A world-first, the Lexus Climate Concierge automatically and integrally controls the 4-zone air conditioning, steering wheel heater, and seat heaters and ventilators, for excellent cabin comfort. The second row of seats can be split 60:40, when more storage space is required for bulkier items. The third row of seats on the LX 570 can be stored away automatically. Split 50:50, electric motors fold each seat flat before rotating them to the vertical storage positions. A two-step door lock function in the front helps prevent drivers from locking the keys in the vehicle. In the rear, a one-step lock function is adopted to conveniently lock rear doors as soon as you shut them. Featuring anti-glare technology, it has crisp, white instrumentation with graduated blue illumination of the dials, gauges and multi-information display. The larger multi-information display features high-definition graphics in colour. A wider array of vehicle data can now be accessed, with the driver able to customise the settings. STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS MARK LEVINSON® AUDIO REMOTE TOUCH INTERFACE Ergonomically positioned steering wheel controls let the driver control a variety of the vehicle’s systems while keeping both hands on the wheel. There are buttons for Audio, Telephone, Info Display, Voice Command, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Voice Recognition. The 19-speaker Mark Levinson® Reference Surround system delivers home-theatre quality in-vehicle entertainment. It features an AM/FM tuner, in-dash single slot DVD player and a maximum of 750 watts of power output. The remote touch unit allows the driver a variety of operations through slick mouse-like gestures without changing the driving position or adjusting ones line-of-sight. The EMV touch-screen provides intuitive control of several multimedia applications. The initial start screen acts as a portal to individual menus for some of the most popular vehicle systems, including audio, climate and navigation. With crisp and clear graphics, the menu is easy to operate. The navigator is fast, user-friendly and offers a variety of functionality, including split-screen, zoom and 3D– style graphics. The maps are stored on the LX’s SD card and can be updated by an Authorised Lexus Dealership. DVD PLAYBACK BLUETOOTH® PARKING DISTANCE CONTROL Favourite DVDs can be watched on the EMV display screen while the vehicle is stationary. With audio provided by Mark Levinson®, a full home-theatre experience can be enjoyed. With wireless Bluetooth®, a mobile phone can be operated remotely in the LX. Calls can be made or received via the touchscreen, the steering wheel controls, or by voice command, while contacts can be viewed on the display screen. Activate the parking distance control and a live video of the area behind the vehicle is displayed on the screen. For further assistance, on-screen guidelines illustrate the ideal path to follow.
