This combines an electric motor with petrol engine to maximise fuel efficiency and reduce fuel emissions while allowing you to change modes to suit your needs, by choosing ‘PWR’ for strong performance, ‘ECO’ for absolute fuel efficiency or ‘EV’ for low speed driving using only the electric motor. The sleek lines are enhanced by LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) at either end of the front bumper, and on the i-Tech® model the V-shaped Bi-LED headlamps provide extra bright visibility at night. In daylight, the UV-reducing green glass in the windscreen and front windows cuts glare as well as reducing noise and vibration inside. Power is provided by the petrol engine in addition to the electric motor. Power output is maximised for a very powerful acceleration. The electric motor functions as a generator during deceleration and braking. Regenerated energy is used to recharge the battery. Braking to a stop at a traffic light, the petrol engine is cut off and the car is brought to a gentle stop.
